-James Naismith was the Basketball

YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts.

-November 6, 1861
4. How?
-James Naismith had examined
the common sports which were Baseball, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Rugby, and
Soccer. He analyzed that the bigger ball was the safest. Then he studied the
physical contact happening when running with the ball. So, he then came across passing
which was legal to the game. Lastly, James decreased the body contact to make
the target unprotected; he made it over the player’s heads. This had invented a
legendary game we all know today “Basketball”.
5. Why?
-James Naismith invented
basketball because he didn’t want the students in P.E. to play outside when it
was cold. So he decided to invent an indoor game.
6. What were the circumstances at the beginning?
-He had only fourteen
days to develop an indoor game.
7. What was it like at the start?

The game started with eighteen men at YMCA gym.

-Jump

9. How was basketball different today than when
it first started?
-Before
it was about a finesse game, but now it is about being physical and more
exhausting.
